FAQ
What do I do if my loved one dies after office hours?
If your loved one passes away outside of normal office hours, please don’t hesitate to contact us immediately. Harry and his team offer a 24/7 call-out service, always ready to answer your call day or night. We provide calm and compassionate guidance, and we’ll arrange to bring your loved one into our care as soon as possible. You are not alone at any hour – Harry and the team are here to support you whenever you need us.
What should I do when someone passes away?
If you lose someone dear to you, the first step is to have a medical professional confirm the passing. If this happens at home, you can contact the person’s GP. If your loved one is in a hospital or care home, the staff will guide you on what to do next. When you feel ready, please give Harry and his team a call. As a small, independent funeral director, we’re available day and night and will support you with care and understanding every step of the way. Harry and the team will bring your loved one into our care and gently guide you through what needs to be done next.
What types of funerals do you offer?
We believe every goodbye should be as special and individual as the person it honours. Harry and our family-run team are here to help you arrange the funeral that feels right for your loved one – whether that’s a traditional service, a simple farewell, a woodland burial, or something entirely unique. We’ll listen to your wishes, help you personalise the service, and make sure every detail reflects the life of the person you are remembering.
Can you accommodate specific religious or cultural traditions?
Absolutely. Harry and the team have experience caring for families from many backgrounds, faiths, and cultures. We’re always happy to work with religious leaders or family elders to ensure that every tradition and custom is respected. We also frequently arrange non-religious, humanist, or spiritual ceremonies for those wanting a different kind of service.
What is the process for arranging a funeral?
Once Harry and the team have brought your loved one into our care, we’ll sit down with you – either at our office or in your own home, wherever you feel most comfortable. We’ll talk through your wishes and help you consider all the options, from floral tributes and vehicles to music and readings. Our family team will handle the paperwork and coordination, making things as easy for you as possible, and we’ll keep you supported every step of the way.
How much does a funeral cost?
Funeral costs depend on your choices – such as whether you’d prefer burial or cremation, the type of coffin, transport, and any personal touches. Harry and the team know how important it is to be open and honest about pricing. We’ll always give you a clear, itemised estimate with no hidden surprises. If cost is a concern, just let us know – our family can help you explore simpler options that still provide a fitting tribute.
Please get in touch if you’d like to talk this through or have any questions.
What support do you offer for grieving families?
Our help doesn’t end with the service. Harry and the team know that grief doesn’t follow a timetable, and you might need support in the weeks and months to come. We’re a listening ear whenever you need us, and we’re always here to connect you with local bereavement groups, counsellors, or other sources of support in our community. Our family – and especially Harry and the team – are here for yours, however long you need us.
What payment methods do you accept?
We understand that managing finances during a difficult time can be an added stress. To make things as straightforward as possible, we offer several ways to settle the funeral account and will provide a clear, itemised invoice so you can see a full breakdown of the costs.
Please note that all of our funeral services are required to be paid in full 48 working hours prior to the funeral commencing. If full payment is not received by this time, we will need to delay the service, which can result in additional costs.
You can make a payment using any of the following methods:
- Bank Transfer (BACS): You can transfer the funds directly to our account. We will provide our bank details on the invoice.
- Cash: Payments can be made in person at our office.
Please note that all of our funeral services are required to be paid in full 48 working hours prior to the funeral commencing. If full payment is not received by this time, we will need to delay the service, which can result in additional costs.
If you are concerned about covering the cost of the funeral, please speak with us. We can guide you on potential financial assistance, such as the Funeral Expenses Payment from the government, which may be available depending on your circumstances. Please note that if you are eligible for a DWP Funeral Expense Payment, we do require the full balance to be covered upfront. Should we receive payment from the DWP, any balance due will be refunded to the customer or nominated payee. We are here to help you navigate this process with compassion and discretion.
